ANTONINA GUGAŁA

ANTONINA GUGALA - visual artist based in Warsaw, Poland. In her work she focuses on the question of how behaviour norms and patterns are established and replicated through visual culture. She is interested in history, museum studies, people's relationship to non-human animals and material culture. A recurring subject of her work is photography's role in sustaining preconceptions about reality. Graduate of the Institute of Creative Photography in Opava/ITF (Czech Rep.) and University of Warsaw (Psychology, MA and Cultural Studies, BA). In 2016 she was awarded the City of Warsaw Art Scholarship. Winner of the Show OFF Section (Krakow Photomonth, 2018). Her photobooks have been shortlisted for UNSEEN Dummy Photobook Award (2013) and Photographic Publication of the Year (2013 & 2017). PARALLEL European Photo Based Platform participant (1st cycle, 2017 - 2018).
