ANTONINA

GUGAŁA

ANTONINA GUGALA - visual artist based in Warsaw, Poland. Her research focuses on how cultural norms and patterns are established and replicated. She often uses her work as a means to unveil historical and socio-political foundations of what is considered to be normative in society. Another recurring subject of her work is people’s relationship to material culture. She is a student at the Institute of Creative Photography in Opava/ITF (Czech Rep.) and a University of Warsaw graduate (Psychology, MA and Iberian Studies, BA). In 2016 she was awarded the City of Warsaw Art Scholarship. Winner of the Show OFF Section (Krakow Photomonth, 2018). Her photobooks have been shortlisted for UNSEEN Dummy Photobook Award (2013) and Photographic Publication of the Year (2013 & 2017). In 2017 she was invited by Fotofestiwal Łódź  to participate in the PARALLEL European Photo Based Platform (organised by Procur.arte, 2017 - 2018).
